Michel Dallaire, Designer
Founder & President
Michel Dallaire Design Industriel Inc.

Michel Dallaire’s practice covers consumer, industrial and institutional products design, as well as urban furniture and transportation material design. His project list ranges from audio visual devices to a new concept in urban transportation, the public bike system BIXI! Montreal, Toronto, Washington and other cities are rapidly adopting this system. Mr Dallaire’s products have won many awards because of his focus on needs analysis and value. Mr. Dallaire acknowledges that his designs are successful partly because of the importance he places on the satisfaction of the needs of his clients at the best cost.

Canada Awards for Excellence Gold Award recipient in 1986, Mr. Dallaire has since then been granted numerous prestigious Canadian and international awards, namely the Grand Prize at the 27th International Exhibition of Inventions, Geneva, in 1999 and at the same exhibition, from 1998 to date, five Gold and one Silver Medal. In 2003, the Design Institute of Montréal awarded him the Career Prize and Special Award for Research. Michel Dallaire was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1978, Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec in 1994 and a member of the Order of Canada in 1999.

Michel Dallaire studied at Montreal’s l’Institut des Arts appliqués and in Stockholm. Since 1998, he has been an Associate Professor both at the University of Montréal’s School of Industrial Design and the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Environmental Design.


 

Shannon Bisset, MBA.

Shannon Bisset founded CubeIt with the goal of offering families like yours a more convenient and cost effective solution to moving and portable storage. Prior to founding CubeIt , Ms Bisset held senior management and marketing positions in Ontario. Ms Bisset is listed as one of the top ten 10 up-and-coming women entrepreneurs in Canada. Shannon was raised in Sherbrooke, QC and is now a resident of Barrie, ON.

As a working parent, she appreciates the luxury of time when coordinating an important event like moving or renovating a home. CubeIt takes pride in offering its clients an alternative "stress-free moving and care-free portable storage" experience.

CubeIt Portable Storage Ltd has annual revenues of over a million dollars presently with seven franchises in Ontario. It sales growth last year was over 119% with a total of 10 employees. CubeIt drops off the attractively designed empty storage container on your driveway, you fill it up at your ease and CubeIt picks it up after the renovation or stores it in one of its locations. One fifth of its business comes from firms that do flood or fire restoration.

Ms Bisset had a Value engineering study performed with their key staff to assist with the rapid growth and resulting challenging of managing this operation. The results are used on a continual basis to assist in the management of it!
